A Moving Power

9/11 possessed a power that truly made the United States One Nation Under God. New York mayor Giuliani stated, "This attack was intended to break our spirit. It has done the exact opposite. It has made us stronger, more determined, and more resolved."†

A More Uniform Government

Following 9/11, Congress was united. Laws regarding recovery and national security were passed at a very fast rate.† Different intelligence organizations such as the FBI and the CIA cooperated to investigate the attacks.† New legislation improving airport security and preventing future terrorist attacks were quickly being issued.

The Citizens

Just days after 9/11, Americans were providing substantial aid for the 9/11 recovery effort. Over $1.4 billion were donated to the Red Cross and the Salvation Army by ordinary citizens.† Out of which, $500,000,000 went towards the families of the first responders (rescue workers).† 36,000 units of blood were donated to the Red Cross on the week following 9/11. † The entire nation truly became the United States of America.
